On March 12, 2017, Montana Fishburne, the 25 year old daughter of Actor Laurence Fishburne, was involved in a two car crash near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Ms. Fishburne’s Toyota Corolla was traveling on I-95 and collided with a Range Rover in the lane ahead of her as it slowed for another collision. No one was injured in this accident. When the Florida State Police arrived to investigate the collision they smelled alcohol on Ms. Fishburne, noticed red eyes and embarked on a DUI Investigation.
Following NHTSA protocol the State police convinced Ms. Fishburne to attempt to prove her innocence by engaging in roadside gymnastics normally referred to as Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Although these tests have never been replicated by third parties, the government claims that the SFSTs will show a probability of a Breath or Blood Alcohol Content of .08 or more. It appears that the police also talked Ms. Fishburne into taking the preliminary breath tester. You should never take these PBTs unless you want to go to jail.
Ms. Fishburne has had some difficulties finding her way in the world. Once she turned 19 years of age she decided to star in a porn movie to gain acceptance by the media like Kim Kardashian. She subsequently became a stripper before moving to Fort Lauderdale to go under the radar.
Sometime Famous people like Justin Bieber get stopped for reckless driving. At the end of August, 2015, Beverly Hills police stopped Bieber for passing to the right and for having illegal amounts of tint on his windows. Bieber was driving an exotic sports car. Bieber has had earlier brushes with the law including a DWI and a destruction of property involving tens of thousands of dollars caused by egging a neighbors’ house. In the Beverly Hills case the police wisely dispatched several cruisers once Bieber‘s identity was known. Beverly Hills attempts to take care of its own while keeping its residents safe as well.
Bieber has gotten himself into a great deal of trouble in the past by his actions and his statements to police. Bieber would be much better off if he learned to assert his right against self-incrimination and his right to have counsel present during any interrogation. Anything that you say to the police can and will be used against you in a court of law. If an officer misunderstands what you said what he heard will be used against you. You are much better off keeping the slate clean and simply telling the Officer, “I want a Lawyer. If I am not under arrest, please let me go.” There may have been a time when celebrities got favorable treatment from law enforcement but that time appears to no longer exist. Today I am afraid that many police officers would love to be known as the Police Officer who arrested Justin Bieber. Keefer Law Firm has a FREE APPto talk to the police.
