Former Farmington New Mexico Police Officer Farhon Smith had DWI and careless driving charges dropped on September 5, 2008. In exchange for the dismissal, Officer Smith agreed to plead no contest to making a false report, failure to give notice of accident and leaving the scene of an accident.
Officer Smith was given 6 months of unsupervised probation. The prosecuting attorney was mystified by a defense used by Officer Smith, “He used an aspect of the law that I didn’t understand”
Sure. Smith had gotten drunk and wrecked his blue Ford Mustang. He then called it in as stolen.
“Fahron was a great cop, he just made a mistake.” I am sure he was and I am sure he deserved the break he got; however, why don’t normal citizens get those same breaks?
You need a good attorney to get those breaks for you.
