The Field Sobriety Tests are designed to fail you.
Moreover, these “tests” are intended to build a case that you are impaired by alcohol.
In the 1970s there was a show called Logan’s Run.
The premise was that once you turned 30 you had a chance to renew for another 30 years.
All you had to do was win at the Carousel test.
The problem was that no one won at Carousel; everyone failed.
Carousel like the Field Sobriety Tests is a lie.

Why does this lady believe that she will be allowed to pass the test no matter how well she does?
Once the police smell alcohol on a subject that person is probably going to jail.
Cursing the police officers will not help you any more than doing the field tests properly.

Do we really need the complicated field sobriety tests to tell that this fellow is drunk?
We need the field sobriety tests to convince a Judge or Jury that someone with a 0.08 blood alcohol content is drunk.
These field sobriety tests are designed for failure.
Most people with a .08 will show no signs of impairment from the alcohol in their system.
So, the federal government through NHTSA came up with a series of tests to confuse these sober but over the limit drivers.
These tests are designed to make a sober driver look drunk – refuse to take them.

Nicholas Armenta, a 37 year old New Mexico State Police Officer, was arrested in February of 2008 for DWI.
Apparently Armenta’s fellow Troopers attempted to secure his release but were unable to convince the Rio Rancho Department of Public Safety to let Trooper Armenta go.
Trooper Armenta was stopped for driving erratically on Unser Boulevard.
When stopped, Trooper Armenta smelled of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot.
Armenta’s breath test indicated a blood alcohol content of .17.
Armenta subsequently resigned; he had been a Trooper for 16 years.

Law Enforcement has bought into the MADD philosophy of not looking at what you did but instead looking at what you might have done.
It is reminiscent of the Minority Report starring Tom Cruise where you got arrested, tried and sentenced for what you were predicted to do – not what you did.
MADD is also pushing the impaired at any BAC level on the public. Since some people may show impairment at low BAC levels all people should be treated as if they show impairment at low levels.
More government one size fits all thinking means justice for none.
