You can see for yourself that some police officers feel comfortable dispensing “street justice”. On May 26, 2008, three West Palm Beach Police Officers beat Pablo Gilberto Valenzuela, 42, so severely that he suffered a broken jaw and bruised eyes.
One officer quit and the other two were fired. The video shows Valenzuela being kicked in the face.
It also shows an Officer lifting the handcuffed Valenzuela to his feet then punching him in the face until he falls dow. Valenzuela was charged with the classic resisting arrest and assault in a police officer as well as the robbery charge he probably deserved.
The Officers forgot to erase the dashboard camera that caught their brutality on tape.

In late April, 2008, Bon Jovi’s Ritchie Sambora plead guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol. Sambora’s black Hummer was stopped for weaving across the center traffic lane.
Sambora had two minor females in the car as well as an adult female. Sambora’s blood test was apparently slightly under .16.
Sambora had recently broken up with Denise Richards and had ended his marriage to Heather Locklear in 2007. Sambora has a history of problems with alcohol.
Even celebrities are subject to arrest for DUI.

Vice President Cheney was convicted for two DWIs. In some states a third DWI conviction in his life time for the Vice President would make him a felon with mandatory prison time.

Impaired drivers are a problem on our crowded highways. Troopers put their lives on the line every time they stop a car on the highway; they also endanger the life of the stopped motorist.
Does stopping someone for 82 in a 65 make sense when the government cannot ensure the safety of the Officer or the stopped person? I say No.

How many innocent people are convicted on he said, she said evidence? Witnesses make mistakes; lots of them. Robert McClendon, 52, was recently released from Chillicothe Correctional Institute in Ohio when his DNA did not match the DNA of the real rapist of the then 10 year old girl. McClendon served nearly 18 years in prison for that rape. He was convicted largely on the testimony of the 10 year old victim; no physical evidence linked him to the crime. I am sure that he made statements to the police denying the crime which were then used against him to make him appear to be a liar. Count this as another win for Justice by the Ohio Innocence Project. DNA Diagnostics Center, a laboratory near Cincinnati Ohio performed the new testing for free as a community service.
