Michigan Judge charged with DWI

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Judge Catherine Bove Steenland was charged with drunk driving after being found stuck in a ditch.  The Court did not release her blood alcohol content which was determined from a blood draw.  The authorities stated that she would not be treated differently because she is a judge.

White Plains man kills best friend.

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

The death of a young person with his life ahead of him is always terrible.  The death of a young person in a needless car accident may be even more terrible.  The person who was responsible for this tragedy will have 4 to 8 years in prison and the rest of his life to think about the death of his friend.  In our imperfect world that is probably the best we can do to bring justice.

To punish innocent persons because they have alcohol in their systems will not stop such tragedies; it will only cause more through wrongful punishment.

If Sean Taylor cannot pass the roadside DWI tests can you?

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

In 2005 Sean Taylor was arrested for DUI because he did not “stick” the roadside gymnastics also called field tests.  The reality of those so called tests is they are designed to fail the subject.  Anyone who could move like this amazing athlete should be able to pass a field test that is fair to the participant.  Mr. Taylor was found not guilty of the DUI once the Judge saw the video.  But the Trooper arrested him.  Don’t do the field tests; even a professional athlete cannot pass them.

DUID charge reduced to Improper Driving

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Our client was arrested for DUID after an early morning collison with a mailbox.  The Trooper found her to be groggy and lacking memory of what happened.  At the hospital our client was given a urine test which was positive for PCP.  She was arrested and transported to jail.  At jail she was given a urine test that registered positive for THC but negative for everything else including PCP.

She was given a blood test under DUI implied consent.  The blood test was negative for PCP and THC.  It was positive for Tramadol.  Indeed, the level of Tramadol was a potentially lethal dose.  The Client was receiving Tramadol by prescription.  Our investigation revealed that a number of medications she was taking by prescription and over the counter prevented the metabolism of Tramadol.  Our client almost joined the estimated 100,000 people in this country who die from properly prescribed prescription medications.

Couple of thoughts:  check with your pharmacist; check with your pharmacist; check with your pharmacist.  And urine testing isn’t worth the pi** you put in it.

Carolina Panther Wide Receiver Dwayne Jarrett pleads guilty to DUI

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

It is hard to beat the machine.  Jarrett blew a .12, well above the legal limit of .08.  If Jarret had blown a .05 he probably would not have even been charged.  Trial by machine is where we are now in this country.

Indiana Deputy charged with DWI/DUI at roadblock

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Being a law enforcement officer does not protect you from a DWI arrest.  My guess is it makes you a target of other departments.

Carmelo Anthony apologizes to Denver for his DUI

Being successful does not protect one from being charged with DUI.  Indeed, it appears to increase the likelyhood that you will be used as an example.

Designed to fail — sobriety field tests

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Videotapes are the best thing to ever happen to finding the truth in a DWI case.  The roadside manuevers are tough even for professional athletes.  According to a Virginia State Trooper Redskin running back Sean Taylor failed his field test in a 2005 DWI arrest.  The videotape and the jury said different.  If a star running back like Sean Taylor cannot pass these tests, who can?  No me and probably not you.
